Otoplasty (Ear surgery)
|
Ear surgery is generally done to pin the ears back in children, because their ear cartilage is relatively soft. About 10% of adult otoplasties require a revision because their cartilage is stiffer (whereas less than 2% of otoplasties in children need to be redone). I like to perform the procedure in the operating room. Wearing a headband to hold the ears in the proper position after the surgery is as important as the surgery itself.
