After receiving a sunburn, drink plenty of water, cover the burn with aloe vera gel for the first three days. After that point, use a much heavier moisturizer to help skin heal and wear sunscreen. Media Reports of "Botax" - Dr. Ronel's Privileged Study with Artefill

In this podcast of Dr Ronel, plastic surgeon from Santa Fe, New Mexico: Media reports say a 5% "Botax" on cosmetic plastic surgery procedures has been included in the health care reform bill. The taxed procedures are thought to include breast augmentation, teeth whitening, and Botox. How does society define the differences between reconstructive and plastic surgery? Who is getting plastic surgery procedures? The average plastic surgery recipient is woman with an average income of $30,000 to $50, 000. Dr. Ronel is one of six doctors in the U.S. participating in a privileged study seeking FDA approval to use Artefill as cheek filler. Artefill is the longest lasting filler on the market. Arnica should be used for a week prior to your procedure. Also included in this podcast is a spiritual tip from Scott Thomas

Media Reports of Heidi Montag

This segment focuses on the media reports of Heidi Montag and the ten procedures said to have been done by well-known plastic surgeon Dr. Frank Ryan. The discussion is based on a realistic assessment of the multiple procedures Montag is said to have received, including; Botox in forehead and brow, fat injections in lips and cheeks, ears pinned back, chin reduction, neck liposuction, breast revision and enhancement, inner and outer thigh liposuction, buttock enhancement and augmentation, and mini brow lift.
Dr. Ronel talks about what it means to combine procedures - reasons include cost issues, less down time and more risk for older patients who smoke. Also discussed is an alarming statistic: patients having out of proportion breast revisions will likely have an average of eight additional surgeries in her lifetime to revise these enhancements.
Dr. Ronel will combine procedures based on what recovery is involved. For example: Tummy tuck & arm tuck is a good combo; Facelift and tummy tuck is not a good combo; a Body lift combination requires more recovery. Also, Dr Ronel revels that the Brazilian butt lift is not long-lasting!

Preventing the Necessity of a Full Surgical Facelift

Betsy Ronel discusses an article from Allure Magazine regarding celebrities faces over time and the little things they do to keep them looking young as well as the plastic surgery they have partaken in! The discussion revolves around non surgical facelifts, lasers, eating right and skin care staving off the necessity of a full surgical facelift. Dr. Ronel finds that the areas around the eyes and mouth are the first to show signs of aging. Minimally invasive techniques are generally focused on these areas, using fillers and lasers to counteract the signs of aging.

Dr. Ronel discusses Polidocanol, and injection treatment for spider vein treatment, that should soon be available in the United States. This product is a less painful sclerosant injection than those currently available.

Mark Wood offers a nutritional tip about when to eat your largest meal of the day. Your metabolism is at its peak between 10am and 2pm, and that should be when you eat your largest meal of the day. If you are still hungry at night, maybe you are not eating enough at lunch!

Secrets to Looking Ten Years Younger (continued)

This segment of Dr. Ronel's plastic surgery podcast continues to reference to New Beauty Magazine article Secrets to Looking Ten Years Younger and the many different types of liposuction. These include power-assisted liposuction, water-jet liposuction, laser-assisted liposuction commonly known as "smart lipo" or "cool lipo", ultra-sound liposuction, and radio frequency liposuction. Power-assisted liposuction allows the machine to do the pushing, causing less physician fatigue but otherwise there should be no difference in the outcome for the patient. Water jet lipo is best for removing large volumes of fat cells. Of course, taking out too much fat can result in contour irregularity. Additionally, preparation for any tumescent liposuction requires injection of an anesthetic.
Also included is a skin care tip from Marian Urban: with the focus usually on the face, we must remember to take care of our hands and neck.

Vaginal Rejuvenation

Included are unusual stories from the article and some of Dr. Ronel's own experiences. The Society of Plastic Surgeons study indicate 73% of patient do admit to having plastic surgery, yet some women even try to hide it from their husbands - requesting that the plastic surgeon's office refer to their tummy tuck as "umbilical hernia surgery".
